Who runs the club?
An elected committee of volunteers are responsible for various roles that keep the club running smoothly.
Our volunteers are mostly parents of our junior players and we welcome new volunteers to at any time.
Please contact our President if you'd like to know more.
What are the expectations of members of our club?
Members includes players, their families, coaches, team managers and committee. All members are
expected to represent the club in a positive way and abide by the Club's Policies and values.
When do we need to register?
All registrations are completed via our Registration page for all players, coaches and team managers.
Registration opening and closing dates will be emailed to existing players and posted on our website and
Facebook page for existing and new players.
Preference will be given to returning players with places in teams for new players offered as they become
available. However, returning players who fail to register by the cut off date may lose their place to new
players.
What is the starting age for competitive basketball?
Age 5 - 7 is a good age to begin playing matches. If you are unsure if your child is ready, they can try
basketball through programs such as Aussie Hoops. These programs are run locally and they teach
basic skills.
What age group will my child/ren play in?
The cut off date to determine what age group your child/ren will be placed in is 31st December. Players
change age groups in the Winter season. A child must have turned 5 before being able to play.
The table below provides a guide for the upcoming Winter 2024 season.

When do the seasons run?
There are 2 basketball seasons in a year and they coincide with the school terms:
Winter season is from April to September (terms 2 and 3);
Summer season is from October to March (terms 4 and 1).
When are games played?
Games days depend on the venue. Saturday games generally begin with the younger age groups in the
morning through to the older age groups in the afternoon. As a guide:
Pakenham:
Saturdays - Under 10s to Under 14s
Monday from 4:40pm - Boys Under-16s and U18s
Officer:
Saturdays - U8 and some U12s
What commitment is expected from players?
Players are expected to show commitment to their team and coach by attending training regularly and
arriving for games at least 10 minutes before the scheduled start time.
If players are unable to attend games or training, they are to advise their coach and team manager in
advance.
What commitment is expected from parents / guardians?
Parents will be rostered on to share the game scoring duties during the season. Your team manager will
advise you of this and will assist with teaching you. It is not a difficult task but is something the parents /
guardians need to do so the Coaches and Team Managers can focus on the players and game.
